Historic Downtown Brainerd will be under construction but Open for Business in early summer 2009. The work being done includes extending storm sewers, replacing the sanitary sewer (over 80 years old!), repairing water mains, new road surfacing, and new sidewalks. Visitors to Historic Downtown will see many new pedestrian-friendly furnishings.
